Marianne Samuelsson, born December 9, 1945 in Alingsås, is a Swedish politician (Green Party) and has been the Governor of Gotland County.
She had to leave the post as Governor in the 4th of August 2009. The background was that a person in her staff secretly recorded a discussion, where Samuelsson stated that the Gotland County should take into special consideration if a distinguished industry leader wanted to build a house close to the sea. This recording was handed over to the local radio station which made it public. In the big media storm that followed, Samuelsson eventually had to resign, probably because of several mistakes she made in handling the scandal. One of them was to state that her only mistake was to say it so it could be recorded.
